50 Years of the ECA
April 1st, 2024
In 1974, Ted Dowman, a resident of The Wells, wrote a letter to a local newspaper complaining of motorists driving on the grass at Stamford Green. It struck a chord; others contacted him and the Epsom Common Association was formed. Remarkably it has survived until today, so we plan to celebrate the 50th anniversary.
The first event will be a talk at the Annual General Meeting (23rd April) on the story of the ECA. Among other plans, we hope to hold an exhibition on the same theme. We have a good amount of source material, but would be very grateful for photos, documents, memories, etc. concerning the past of the Common and the ECA. We will of course return any originals.
