Pink Flying Pigs over the Common??
April 9th, 2024

Please be assured that this notice is a hoax and nothing to do with the ECA. If any dog owners are anxious, neither we, nor the EEBC Countryside Team, have ever heard of dogs locally being attacked by birds of prey. Peregrine Falcons mostly take birds in flight, with perhaps the occasional mouse or young rabbit. Even the larger female weighs less than 1.3 kg, so is unlikely to want a fight with a solidly built mammal with sharp teeth. Flight feathers and light-weight hollow bones are just too easily damaged.
Sightings of more than one or two birds over the Common are unusual, ten would be astonishing.
Much more impressive than the nonsense in this fake is the fact that Peregrines have been measured at speeds of at least 240 mph - the fastest animal on earth!
Should you have seen other notices, you will also have realised that we are not providing free cakes or banning people without dogs.  9 Apr 24
